E10G42BTDA Intel X520-DA2 10G SFP+ PCIe 2.0 x8 Ethernet Network Card

Low-Profile Dual-Port 10GbE SFP+ PCIe NIC for Virtualized I/O Offload with the E10G42BTDA

The E10G42BTDA is a low-profile PCIe add-in network adapter built on the Intel X520-DA2 design with the Intel 82599 controller, engineered for predictable 10GbE fabric access in densely packed rack servers. With dual SFP+ ports and a PCIe 2.0 x8 host interface, the E10G42BTDA targets platforms where stable line-rate throughput and deterministic latency matter more than peak PCIe bandwidth, including consolidation nodes and edge aggregation tiers.

In virtualized environments, the E10G42BTDA offloads key datapath functions using Intel VT-c capabilities such as SR-IOV, VMDq/VMQ, VLAN handling, QoS, packet filtering, and flow control, helping reduce CPU overhead and improving tenant isolation under mixed east-west traffic. For storage-oriented architectures, the adapter supports FCoE and includes PXE and iSCSI boot ROM features, enabling diskless provisioning and standardized remote deployment workflows while keeping the storage and network control planes aligned.

Why Choose the E10G42BTDA?

The E10G42BTDA delivers an efficient density-to-performance ratio by combining dual 10GbE uplinks, virtualization-aware offloads, and a low-profile form factor that fits common 1U/2U server layouts. It scales cleanly across clustered hosts where consistent adapter behavior, boot capabilities, and standards-based SFP+ optics integration simplify rollout, spares strategy, and lifecycle management in enterprise data centers.

Intel designs this class of adapter around long-term platform compatibility, rigorous validation, and predictable driver support across mainstream server operating systems and hypervisors, aligning the E10G42BTDA with operational requirements for controlled change management and stable production networking.

Key Applications:

• Virtualized server hosts and multi-tenant I/O
• 10GbE top-of-rack uplinks and aggregation
• iSCSI boot and diskless provisioning
• FCoE-enabled storage networking
• Network segmentation with VLAN and QoS
