WD122KRYZ WD Gold 12TB SATA 512 MB 3.5" Consumer HDD

High-Capacity 3.5in Enterprise SATA HDD for 24x7 Datacentre Storage with the WD122KRYZ

The WD122KRYZ is a 12TB 3.5in internal enterprise HDD engineered for capacity-focused server platforms where predictable latency and sustained throughput are required across mixed CPU generations and hypervisor stacks. As a SATA device, it integrates cleanly into standard HBA or onboard SATA controller designs, enabling dense storage tiers without consuming PCIe lanes needed for GPUs, NVMe, or high-speed networking.

Using 7200RPM CMR recording and a 512MB cache, WD122KRYZ supports consistent write behaviour suitable for RAID groups and large sequential streams, while Advanced Format 512e improves sector efficiency in modern OS and controller environments. Sustained transfer performance up to 600MB/s, combined with TLER and Rotational Vibration Safeguard, aligns the drive with multi-bay chassis and shared storage shelves where vibration and error recovery control impact rebuild times and service levels.

Why Choose the WD122KRYZ?

WD122KRYZ delivers an enterprise-ready density-to-cost profile for storage tiers that prioritise capacity and reliability over ultra-low latency, making it a practical building block for scalable HDD pools. With 24x7 duty cycle design and 2.0M hours MTBF, WD122KRYZ supports standardised deployments across racks and sites, simplifying lifecycle planning for NAS/SAN tiers, backup repositories, and bulk datasets.

WD designs the Gold series around datacentre operational stability, focusing on controlled error recovery, vibration tolerance, and consistent performance in multi-drive environments. This engineering approach supports modern storage standards and predictable integration into RAID, JBOD, and storage appliance architectures.

Key Applications:

• Capacity-optimised file repositories
