High-Density 3.5in Enterprise SAS HDD for 24x7 Storage Tiers with the 0B36049

The 0B36049 is a WD Ultrastar DC HC310 6TB 3.5in internal enterprise HDD designed to anchor capacity tiers in server and workstation platforms where predictable latency, sustained throughput, and continuous duty cycles are required. Built on proven CMR recording, the 0B36049 supports consistent write behavior under RAID parity workloads and rebuild operations, reducing performance volatility that can impact shared storage pools.

For host connectivity, the 0B36049 uses a single-port SAS interface to integrate cleanly into enterprise backplanes, expanders, and HBA-based architectures, while Advanced Format support (4Kn/512e) provides deployment flexibility across mixed OS and controller generations. A 7200RPM spindle and 256MB cache help stabilize IO service time for bulk datasets, while SED hardware encryption enables at-rest protection aligned with data governance policies without shifting cryptographic load onto the CPU.

Why Choose the 0B36049?

The 0B36049 delivers an efficient density-to-power profile for scale-out capacity, combining 6TB per bay with enterprise serviceability expectations for 24x7 environments. With a 2.0M-hour MTBF, the 0B36049 is optimized for array consistency and operational resilience, making it a practical building block for tiered storage designs that must scale predictably across many drive slots.

WD Ultrastar engineering emphasizes workload-tuned mechanics, rigorous validation, and firmware behavior aligned with enterprise RAID and SAS ecosystems. This approach supports stable integration into modern data centre standards where controlled thermals, structured maintenance windows, and security requirements are non-negotiable.

Key Applications:

RAID arrays for capacity tiers
Server bulk storage repositories
Workstation dataset archives
Backup-to-disk staging
Log and telemetry retention

At Happyware - Server Hardware you benefit from 24/7 Customer Service to support integration planning and deployment timelines for the 0B36049, and you can extend the warranty up to 6 years to align the drive lifecycle with enterprise refresh and maintenance strategies.
