High-Density 3.5in Enterprise SATA HDD for Always-On Capacity Tiers with the 0B35946

The 0B35946 is a WD Ultrastar DC HC310 3.5in internal enterprise HDD engineered for 24/7 rack server and storage nodes where predictable bulk capacity matters more than low-latency flash performance. As a single-drive building block, the 0B35946 integrates cleanly into standard backplanes and hot-swap bays, supporting consistent fleet deployment across general-purpose server environments.

Designed around a SATA interface and 7200RPM CMR recording, the 0B35946 targets sustained throughput and stable write behavior for backup targets, log repositories, and archive tiers. The 4Kn native sector format improves alignment with modern filesystems and object/storage software stacks that are optimized for 4KB blocks, reducing read-modify-write overhead compared to legacy sector translation. A 256MB cache supports burst absorption and command queue efficiency for mixed sequential workloads typical in NAS and SDS capacity tiers.

Why Choose the 0B35946?

The 0B35946 provides an enterprise-oriented density-to-reliability balance for capacity scaling without changing chassis design or host connectivity, enabling straightforward expansion in SATA-based servers and JBOD enclosures. With an MTBF of 2.0M hours, the 0B35946 supports operational continuity in always-on environments, while Secure Erase helps standardize decommissioning workflows for data lifecycle management.

WD’s Ultrastar engineering emphasizes controlled acoustics, power-aware operation, and validation for continuous duty cycles, aligning with data centre expectations for serviceability, consistent behavior under load, and predictable integration into established storage architectures.

Key Applications:

Rack server bulk storage
Backup targets
NAS and SDS capacity tiers
Log aggregation repositories
Archive and retention storage

At Happyware - Server Hardware you benefit from non-binding offers tailored to your rollout requirements for the 0B35946, enabling accurate capacity planning and standardized procurement. For larger storage expansions, bulk order discount options help optimize BOM cost while keeping configurations consistent across fleets.
