AOC-SLG3-2M2-O Supermicro PCIe 3.0 x8 Storage Controller

High-Density PCIe NVMe Enablement Adapter for Internal M.2 Storage with the AOC-SLG3-2M2-O

The AOC-SLG3-2M2-O is a Supermicro PCIe add-in storage adapter designed to introduce internal M.2 NVMe capability into server platforms where front-access drive bays or dedicated boot modules are limited. Installed in a PCIe 3.0 x8 slot, the AOC-SLG3-2M2-O provides a practical path to place OS boot media or a read-optimized cache tier directly on the system board plane, minimizing cabling complexity and preserving external hot-swap bays for capacity-focused storage.

By leveraging PCIe 3.0 connectivity, the AOC-SLG3-2M2-O aligns well with mainstream Intel and AMD server generations that expose ample PCIe lanes for expansion while keeping the CPU-memory domain dedicated to application performance. The adapter supports a compact internal NVMe topology suitable for virtualization hosts and dense compute nodes, enabling local high-IOPS scratch, metadata, or hypervisor boot without changing the primary storage backplane. For appliance and embedded deployments, the AOC-SLG3-2M2-O simplifies serviceability by consolidating internal storage into a single PCIe card footprint and maintaining a clean airflow path.

Why Choose the AOC-SLG3-2M2-O?

The AOC-SLG3-2M2-O delivers a strong density-to-function ratio by converting a standard PCIe 3.0 x8 slot into internal M.2 NVMe placement, improving platform flexibility across multiple chassis designs. The AOC-SLG3-2M2-O supports scalable server build standards by reserving front bays for shared storage while keeping critical boot and caching media localized, reducing operational risk and accelerating deployment consistency across fleets.

Supermicro engineers the AOC-SLG3-2M2-O to integrate cleanly with enterprise server architectures, emphasizing compatibility, predictable behavior under sustained load, and adherence to data centre compliance requirements such as RoHS for modern procurement policies.

Key Applications:

• Hypervisor boot on internal NVMe
• Read-intensive cache tier
