ST8000DXA01

High-Capacity 3.5" Enterprise SATA HDD featuring CMR Recording with the ST8000DXA01

The ST8000DXA01 is an 8TB 3.5" internal SATA 6Gb/s HDD designed for workstation and tower platforms where capacity, deterministic write behavior, and predictable rebuild characteristics are more important than low-latency NVMe performance. In mixed CPU configurations from modern Intel Xeon and Core workstations to AMD Ryzen and EPYC-based towers, the ST8000DXA01 fits cleanly behind standard SATA controllers and RAID HBAs, enabling straightforward integration without PCIe lane pressure or platform-specific tuning.

By using CMR at 7200RPM with a 256MB cache, the ST8000DXA01 supports sustained sequential throughput for media libraries and bulk datasets while maintaining stable performance under longer write streams and background maintenance. The 4Kn sector format with 512e emulation improves alignment options for current operating systems and storage stacks, and the SATA 6Gb/s interface keeps expansion practical across multi-bay chassis. Power characteristics are suited for dense internal arrays in deskside systems, balancing thermals and acoustics against capacity-per-slot for archival and scratch tiers.

Why Choose the ST8000DXA01?

The ST8000DXA01 delivers a strong density-to-cost profile for local storage architectures where reliability, consistent write behavior, and simple scaling matter. It is well suited for deploying multiple drives per chassis for capacity pools, project archives, or RAID sets, while keeping the platform flexible for GPU acceleration and memory-heavy workflows by avoiding additional PCIe storage requirements.

Seagate designs its enterprise and prosumer storage around workload-aware mechanics, firmware control, and compliance with modern data center and workstation integration standards. With RoHS compliance and included Rescue data recovery service coverage, Seagate aligns the drive’s lifecycle considerations with operational continuity expectations.

Key Applications:

Workstation bulk datasets and scratch storage
Content creation media libraries
Project archives and versioned assets
General-purpose tower capacity expansion

At Happyware - Server Hardware you benefit from non-binding offers tailored to your rollout plan for ST8000DXA01 deployments and bulk order discount options when standardizing capacity across multiple workstations or towers.
