ST3300657SS Seagate Cheetah 15K.7 0.3TB SAS 16 MB 3.5" Consumer HDD

High-Performance 3.5in Enterprise SAS HDD for low-latency transactional tiers with the ST3300657SS

The ST3300657SS is a 3.5in internal enterprise HDD designed for SAS backplanes where predictable IOPS and consistent seek performance matter more than capacity density. In server platforms with dedicated RAID controllers and dual-socket CPU architectures, the drive’s 15,000 RPM spindle behavior supports OLTP-style access patterns, boot/OS volumes, and log-intensive workloads that benefit from low-latency rotational media.

Within PCIe-based server designs, the ST3300657SS typically complements PCIe RAID/HBA expansion by anchoring legacy SAS tiers and isolating write-heavy system volumes from NVMe data pools. Its single-port SAS interface aligns with common RAID shelf topologies, while PowerTrim power management helps control per-bay thermals and rack-level power envelopes in dense 3.5in bays. For mixed environments, ST3300657SS enables a practical storage architecture that maintains SAS operational consistency where SSD substitution is not mandated.

Why Choose the ST3300657SS?

The ST3300657SS provides a stable density-to-performance profile for enterprises maintaining SAS RAID backplanes and operational runbooks built around 15K HDD behavior. It is well suited to scale-out deployments that require consistent rebuild characteristics, predictable latency under queue depth, and straightforward integration into existing controller firmware and monitoring stacks, while keeping system volumes isolated from high-value flash resources.

Seagate’s enterprise engineering focuses on sustained duty-cycle reliability, firmware control for datacentre uptime targets, and interoperability across established SAS ecosystems. The Cheetah 15K.7 design aligns with managed airflow chassis, standardized hot-swap carriers, and long-lived platform support strategies typical in regulated or change-controlled environments.

Key Applications:

• Transactional OLTP storage tiers
• Boot/OS volumes in SAS RAID servers
• Database log and journal volumes
• Legacy enterprise SAS storage pools
• Workstation and server SAS bays requiring 15K performance
