ST20000NT001

High-Capacity 3.5in Enterprise SATA NAS HDD for RAID-Endurance and 24x7 Duty with the ST20000NT001

The ST20000NT001 is a 20TB 3.5in internal enterprise HDD engineered for NAS and server storage tiers where predictable latency and rebuild stability matter more than raw IOPS. As a SATA device it integrates cleanly into standard backplanes and HBA-based architectures, enabling dense capacity nodes without consuming PCIe lanes that are reserved for accelerators, NICs, or NVMe caching.

Built on CMR recording with 7200 RPM operation and a 256MB cache, the ST20000NT001 supports sustained write behavior suitable for RAID groups and scale-out pools, avoiding the write-amplification patterns often associated with SMR in multi-bay systems. 512e advanced format alignment helps maintain compatibility across modern operating systems, hypervisors, and storage appliances, while keeping sector translation overhead controlled in mixed fleets.

Why Choose the ST20000NT001?

The ST20000NT001 provides a balanced density-to-reliability profile for enterprises standardizing on high-capacity SATA tiers in NAS, backup, and bulk repositories. AgileArray tuning, TLER behavior, and rotational vibration sensing help protect array consistency in multi-drive enclosures, while dual-plane balance reduces vibration coupling for predictable performance at scale. This makes the ST20000NT001 a practical building block for capacity expansion where rebuild windows and uptime targets drive procurement decisions.

Seagate designs its enterprise and NAS-class drives to support continuous operation in multi-bay environments, emphasizing workload-aware firmware controls, mechanical stability, and qualification for common rackmount NAS and storage server platforms. The ST20000NT001 aligns with modern data centre standards for high-density SATA capacity tiers and lifecycle-managed deployments, supported by a 2.5M-hour MTBF reliability target.

Key Applications:

NAS RAID arrays and scale-out capacity tiers
Backup and archival repositories
Bulk data storage for file services
Workstation media and dataset storage

At Happyware - Server Hardware you benefit from non-binding offers tailored to your capacity tier and RAID design with the ST20000NT001, helping you standardize SKUs across refresh cycles. For larger rollouts, bulk order discount options support cost-efficient scaling of ST20000NT001 deployments across multiple NAS nodes.
