ST12000NT001

High-Performance 3.5-inch SATA Enterprise/NAS HDD for capacity tiers with the ST12000NT001

The ST12000NT001 is a 12TB 3.5-inch internal HDD engineered for enterprise NAS and bulk storage servers where predictable latency and sustained throughput are required from a single-drive SATA architecture. In CPU-dense, PCIe-centric platforms, the ST12000NT001 complements modern storage controllers and HBAs by delivering high-capacity nearline storage without consuming PCIe lanes or NVMe bays, keeping expansion slots available for networking and accelerators.

Built around CMR recording with 4Kn (512e) sector formats, the ST12000NT001 is optimized for RAID arrays and multi-bay enclosures where rebuild behavior and write consistency matter. A 7200 RPM spindle and 256MB cache support steady sequential performance for backup repositories and content libraries, while a helium-sealed design and dual-plane balance reduce vibration sensitivity in higher-drive-count chassis. With 24x7 duty-cycle features, the ST12000NT001 aligns with scale-out NAS nodes and capacity tiers that demand operational stability across continuous service windows.

Why Choose the ST12000NT001?

The ST12000NT001 provides a pragmatic density-to-performance balance for SMB/ROBO file services and nearline datasets, enabling straightforward scaling by adding drives and shelves rather than re-architecting compute. With 2.5M hours MTBF positioning and RAID-focused tuning, the ST12000NT001 supports predictable fleet behavior in mixed read/write environments and helps maintain service levels during sustained workloads and rebuild cycles.

Seagate designs IronWolf Pro class drives with an emphasis on multi-bay reliability, consistent mechanics, and datacenter-aligned validation for NAS and server storage deployments. The platform focus targets dependable operation under vibration, thermal variation, and continuous access patterns common in shared storage.

Key Applications:

NAS RAID arrays
SMB/ROBO file services
Backup repositories
Bulk capacity storage tiers
Media and archive libraries

At Happyware - Server Hardware you benefit from non-binding offers tailored to your storage rollout and procurement cycles, with bulk order discount options that simplify large drive refreshes and multi-shelf expansions for the ST12000NT001.
