01FR900 Kioxia BG4 128GB NVME M.2 2242 Consumer SSD

Compact M.2 2242 NVMe Boot and OS SSD architecture with the 01FR900

The 01FR900 is a Kioxia BG4 Series M.2 2242 NVMe SSD designed for space-constrained server appliances and embedded platforms where a dedicated boot or OS device must be reliable, low-latency, and operationally simple. In compact systems, the 01FR900 enables a clean separation of operating system and application data tiers, supporting deterministic maintenance workflows and reducing risk when rebuilding nodes.

By using an NVMe interface over a single M.2 (M-Key) connection, the 01FR900 aligns with modern CPU platforms that expose PCIe lanes directly to onboard M.2 slots, avoiding legacy SATA cabling and simplifying chassis integration. Its 128GB capacity is suited to read-intensive OS images, hypervisor footprints, and cache metadata, while leaving higher-endurance or encrypted data sets to dedicated enterprise SSD pools. For edge and embedded deployments, the 01FR900 supports predictable boot behavior and streamlined spare-part standardization across identical appliances.

Why Choose the 01FR900?

The 01FR900 delivers an efficient density-to-function profile for platforms that must preserve front-access bays for bulk storage while still providing fast local boot media. Selecting the 01FR900 supports scalable rollouts by keeping the boot layer consistent across nodes, enabling straightforward imaging, rapid replacement, and minimal disruption during service events in remote or unmanned locations.

Kioxia engineering focuses on storage consistency, controller firmware stability, and qualification processes aligned with enterprise deployment expectations. The BG4 design targets modern data centre and edge standards by balancing power, footprint, and interoperability for OEM system integration where predictable behavior matters more than peak benchmark throughput.

Key Applications:

• Server appliance boot drives
• Embedded platform OS storage
• Hypervisor and controller OS volumes
• Read-intensive local cache metadata
