Intel Xeon Gold 6542Y 24 Cores 48 Threads 4.1GHz E (LGA 4677) PK8072205559600 Server CPU

Enterprise 2-Socket Server CPU Platform Density featuring PCIe 5.0 and DDR5 with the Intel Xeon Gold 6542Y (PK8072205559600)

The Intel Xeon Gold 6542Y is a 5th Gen Xeon Scalable (Emerald Rapids-SP) tray processor for LGA4677 servers designed for balanced compute density, high memory bandwidth, and predictable scale-out behavior. With 24 cores and 48 threads, it targets mixed consolidation where per-socket throughput, virtualization efficiency, and consistent latency matter across clustered deployments.

On platforms using the Intel C741 chipset, the Intel Xeon Gold 6542Y enables DDR5 up to 5200 MT/s with ECC and large memory footprints up to 4TB (platform-dependent), aligning well with in-memory databases and analytics. Its 80 PCIe 5.0 lanes support high-speed NICs, NVMe storage tiers, and accelerator expansion without bottlenecking upstream I/O. For infrastructure services, Intel AMX plus DSA and QuickAssist software acceleration capabilities help offload compression, data movement, and crypto-adjacent tasks, while the 2-socket topology with 3 UPI links maintains coherent scaling for scale-up workloads.

Why Choose the Intel Xeon Gold 6542Y?

The Intel Xeon Gold 6542Y provides a pragmatic density-to-performance profile for 2-socket servers where memory capacity, PCIe 5.0 connectivity, and enterprise security features must scale together. It fits architectures that standardize on LGA4677 for lifecycle consistency, enabling repeatable deployment, capacity planning, and resilient operation under sustained 250W thermal design conditions.

Intel designs Xeon platforms with a strong focus on validation, long-term availability, and ecosystem alignment, supporting modern data centre requirements for reliability, manageability, and secure boot-to-runtime operation.

Key Applications:

• Virtualization and mixed workload consolidation
• Database servers with large memory footprints
• Analytics and data processing nodes
• Encryption-intensive infrastructure services
• High-speed NVMe and network I/O platforms
